Notes: Fred C. Brewer, a naval architect from Sausalito, California did the preliminary design work with Sam Crocker of Alden Associates, drawing the final plans. (Alden design #157) Originally called the San Francisco 'S' class, it became known as the BIRD when some of the first boats were given bird names. A number of the original boats still exist and race as a fleet to this day on San Francisco Bay. (2008)
