Alan Payne

1921 – 1995

Alan Payne was a yacht designer who was born in Great Britain but spent his career in Australia. He is probably best known as the designer of the 12 meter 'Gretel II', that very nearly took away the America's cup in 1970.\nIn 1993, he was honored as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his contribution to Australian yachting.
