Like Hobie Alter, Geoff Prindle had been a builder of sufboards.\n\nHe became very successful in racing the HOBIE 14 and began developing his own 2 man catamaran which became the PRINDLE 16.\n\nHis first company was called Surfglas, Inc, (founded with partner Sterling Santley). \n\nThe PRINDLE 16 was more advanced than other cats of the day. Besides being faster, it wasn't as susceptible to pitchpoling. And it was simple to rig and sail.\n\nSomewhat later the PRINDLE 18 was introduced. It was bigger, faster, with much more buoyancy. Yet it's light weight made it still easy launch off the beach or ramp.\n\nLater there was the PRINDLE 19, 18-2, 15, et al. \n\nPrindle sold the company and designs to Performance Catamarans of Santa Ana, California, USA.
